Programme Objectives
The Higher Diploma in Health and Rehabilitation Services programme is a two year full time program that aims to provide an opportunity for students to acquire professional training and a broad foundational knowledge and skills in relevant healthcare disciplines including nursing, community health, and rehabilitation services. Upon the completion of the first year of the programme, students will be eligible for registration as health workers with the Social Welfare Department.
Programme Intended Learning Outcomes (PILO)
Upon completion of the Higher Diploma in Health and Rehabilitation Services programme, learners should be able to:
• Demonstrate competency in basic caring and communication skills necessary for working in the field of health and rehabilitation services.
• Understand the fundamental knowledge of health and rehabilitation sciences as well as ethical issues related to the health care fields.
• Display positive attitude and a personal goal for continuing lifelong learning.
• Equip with necessary generic skills, including languages, information technology, interpersonal communication, reasoning skills, and the ability to learn effectively.
• Acquire the essential practical skills as a health worker / rehabilitation assistant (Specialized Practical Skills).

Vocational and Academic Pathways
Graduates from this program will be qualified to work in acute care hospitals or other human health institutions which have accommodation facilities such as nursing homes and residential care settings. They may also work as supporting health care staff such as health workers, patient care assistants (Level II or III), rehabilitation assistants, and executive assistants in a variety of health care and rehabilitation care settings.
Academically, graduates are eligible to apply for a full-time top-up undergraduate degree program that HKAC is currently offering with Andrews University, USA in Hong Kong. Graduates of our Higher Diploma Programs can pursue and complete these undergraduate degrees in 2-3 years. Graduates are also eligible to apply for admission to the 3-year Bachelor of Nursing degree programme offered by Avondale University College, Australia.

Admission Requirements
1. Level 2 in five subjects* in Hong Kong Diploma in Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination including Chinese Language and English Language, or equivalent; or
2. Have successfully completed accredited Qualification Framework Level 3 Foundation Diploma; or
3. Satisfactory completion of the Diploma Yi Jin Programme;
4. Mature applicants (aged 21 or above) with a minimum of two years of related working experience may be considered on an individual basis upon passing an admission interview; and
5. Passed an admission interview

Date of Commencement: September 2021
Higher Diploma in Health and Rehabilitation Services is accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications for a period from June 2021 to May 2027 (three years).
